Sarah Jane Humke

The life of a traveling, reading, writing, spining and knitting shepherdess.

I hinted yesterday that I would have a post of all of the goodies that I got while in Edinburgh today so here it is!  I primarily got yarns at 2 shops, K1 Yarns and the department store John Lewis.  The reason for the John Lewis expenditure is two-fold.  First, they had some Noro Kureyon, which I had been unable to find in any local store up to that point.  Second, they had an odd balls basket with odd balls of yarns like Noro, Debbie Bliss and Rowan for half off.  I was careful to try to make sure that I had at least 2 balls of each kind of yarn in complementary colors so that I could, in theory, make something from them rather than just fondle them.

(The yarns that are from the odd balls bin are wrapped in plastic and paper wrappers.  Sorry about the crappy photos, having a moment of “issues” with the camera.)

The yarns that I got at K1 Yarns were a bit different.  They were from companies like Fyberspates,  Bluefaced.com and New Lanark some of which were dyed specifically for the yarn store.  Nothing that I bought there had really traveled from outside the island, which I think is a very good thing.

I only got a couple of other things other than food and drink.  One was, uh, a cashmere sweater.  It was reasonably priced and exactly what I’ve been looking for for a while.

And lastly, I got this little guy to sit on my fiber arts books shelves in my room.

I like how jaunty he looks in his little tartan scarf and hat!
